Daniel has focused on working with young widows and dual-military couples in his RIA since launching in 2018 and will share his meeting processes, tactics for entry-level understanding and utilization of SFFT, and the impacts this approach can have on clients. You don’t need to be a therapist to start implementing these helpful approaches right away! Estate Planning and Survivor Benefits Entitlements-No, They’re Not What You Think!

There is so much misinformation about the benefits available to the survivors of veterans! Why? Benefits can change depending on whether the death was on active duty or post service! Also, some benefits must be established by the veteran before they pass away. Many veterans make assumptions that benefits will be available for their survivors, but the reality is they won't qualify. Plus, after service all benefits survivors are eligible for will require applications! So, many survivors fail to get benefits because they don't even apply. This session will navigate the eligibility requirements for various survivor benefits from DoD and the VA and explain the realities of benefits so estate planning can account for financial gaps in entitlements. We will also explore some misunderstood benefits that are included with SGLI and VGLI policies.

Empowering Veterans to Take Charge of Their Financial Health

Presentation will review important links between financial, mental, and physical health in Veterans. Then, the presentation will navigate through the National Veterans Financial Resource Center (FINVET) at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to raise awareness of a newly launched Veteran-centered website of tools and resources for Veterans to empower them to earn more money, save money, and protect their money.
