Kate Horrell is an Accredited Financial Counselor® who helps our military community make the most of their pay and benefits. She shares up-to-date information in understandable terms, and explains how rules, programs, and laws directly impact our personal finances.After working with thousands of clients and readers, she understands the concerns of currently serving, retired, and veteran families.

In addition to her AFC certification, Kate is studying for the Chartered Financial Consultant designation. She has a professional background in mortgage banking and taxes. She volunteers with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, the Navy Compass program, and MOAA.

Kate has been married to a now-retired sailor for 29 years, corralling four girls and two cats across four OCONUS tours and a handful of homes in the US. She has experienced first-hand the challenges of pay problems, landlording, putting kids through college, and preparing for the transition to civilian life.
