Dave Julian

Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Military Community and Family Policy)

Dave Julian serves as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP) within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In this role, he advises the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Principal Director on policies, program issues, and other matters within the MC&FP portfolio that impact military member and family member readiness and resilience. The MC&FP portfolio includes family readiness, child care, youth programs, exceptional family members, non-medical counseling, family advocacy, MWR programs, casualty/mortuary affairs, spouse employment and education, Military OneSource, Defense-State liaison matters, economic security, and food security.

Mr. Julian reported to MC&FP in 2004 as a Naval officer and served as the Associate Director of the Office of Family Policy and later as Director of the Office of Personal Finance and Transition, with responsibility for policies and programs that helped directly support both the personal financial readiness of troops and families through education, awareness, counseling, and protections and their successful transition from military service.
