Foreign-born individuals can face challenges as they learn to navigate life in a new country. Oftentimes, norms from their birth country continue to shape their daily life choices. There are varying disparities across countries in our world. Everything from infrastructure, laws, and cultural norms can bear stark differences. This new American environment can be complex for newcomers. It can also feel completely overwhelming.
This session will look at:
(1) Some of the challenges that individuals and families face as they begin new lives in America and create first-generation American families.
(2) How personal finance practitioners can partner with these groups as they build new lives to honor their values, culture, and traditions
